Sam & Sam run a marathon.
Donation protected
We first met in nursery roughly 20 years ago. Since then, we've been as close as brothers. Other than bad haircuts, the main thing we've shared throughout our friendship is a love for sport. With time, our ambitions have grown and the desire to push ourselves increases.
We both decided that it was time to put that ambition to good use and do something meaningful in the process. That's why, on the 10th of April 2022, we will be running the Zurich Marathon together and raising money for two charities that both carry great importance to us; The Caring Cancer Trust & Alzheimers Society .
All the money we raise will be split 50/50 and donated to our two chosen charities.
Here's a little explanation of why we're doing what we're doing from the two of us:
Sam B
"I’m going to be running the marathon for someone who will always have a special place in my heart; my dear friend Maisie.
She and I developed a strong bond from a young age, and we were close friends throughout. Sadly, in 2015 Maisie passed away at the age of 17 years old, after a long battle with cancer.
I will be donating my half of the money towards Maisie’s chosen charity, which is the Caring Cancer Trust. The marathon is going to be a big challenge and I know when it gets tough, we will have Maisie with us pushing Sam & I over the finish line
Although I’m running the marathon for Maisie, I will also be thinking of Sam’s grannies and their struggles with dementia. I know how important grandparents are to us".
Sam J
"I’ll be running the marathon in honour of my two lovely grannies, Danny & Mémé. Both of these amazing women played a big part in making me the man I am today.
Sadly, over the last few years, both have been suffering the effects of dementia. It is difficult to watch two such strong & loving characters lose the parts of them that we remember so fondly. Nonetheless, I know they would be proud of what Sam & I are doing.
Maisie was also a very close friend of mine, through some of the most important years of our young lives. We'll have you with us in April Madge.
I will be donating my half of the money towards Alzheimer’s Society. Most importantly for me, the care and support they offer for the affected families is as impressive as that for the affected individuals".
Thanks for taking the time to read this! In the meantime, we'll be working hard to get marathon ready.
