Why we’re running
In April, we’re travelling to Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank to take part in the Palestine Marathon. Sam will be running the full marathon, and Sabrina will be running the half marathon.
Neither of us have ever run these distances before or anything close. We've both done our first ever 10ks in the last six months so this is a bit of a challenge
The Palestine Marathon is an act of resistance in the cause of freedom of movement across the territory. The route we’ll be running has to fit within severe restrictions, checkpoints and barriers that shape everyday life in the West Bank.
The marathon has been cancelled in recent years due to the genocide in Gaza and escalating violence and repression across the West Bank. We’re going this year to see, listen, and learn first-hand from the Palestinian people, and to show solidarity in a practical way.
Why we’re fundraising
We’re raising money for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), a charity providing essential healthcare services in Gaza, the West Bank and refugee communities.
MAP supports hospitals, clinics and medical staff working under impossible conditions - shortages of equipment, restrictions on movement, and sustained attacks on health infrastructure.
