Dear Members & Supporters,
Sam Ramsay has been on the sidelines since late May due to a serious medical condition which initially started as some back pain. Upon further tests and imaging, it was diagnosed that Sam has Ewing’s Sarcoma, an extremely rare type of bone cancer that sadly, disproportionately affects young men.
Sam has started extensive treatment with a gruelling chemotherapy regime . Surgery is planned for late August with possible overseas proton radiation therapy to fight this cancer. Sam is a highly valued and respected player within the group and has continued to stay connected, recently making the trip to Port Pirie for our game against his former team, South Adelaide.
The playing group and club have thrown their full support behind Sam in this tough time, with the playing group donating a portion of their match payments from the round 13 contest against South Adelaide to help Sam financially with the substantial medical expenses and inability to work due to his treatment. The club will be looking to do some fundraising at our next home game to also help support the battle that Sam is currently facing.
Sam, his family and the club are very hopeful of a successful treatment plan and we hope to see him back to full health and fitness soon.
