My mom, Sam Onn Than, peacefully was taken by angel wings, while holding my hand on May 06, 2026, at 12:49PM. Mommie was surrounded by friends and family, across multiple states, right by her bedside.

Mom recently was hospitalized at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia, on April 8, 2026, for liver disease due to acute hepatitis, almost leading to liver failure.

Upon discharge, she did well aside some side effects. We even made it to New York City for a family wedding.

On April 27, 2026, we returned back from NYC, and rushed her back to the emergency room, for edema swelling that formed large broken blisters on her upper thighs.

She was discharged with home care nurses coming by twice daily. On May 5, 2026, after two nurse visits, we noticed a rapid spread of redness on her right thigh, surrounding that open blister wound and took her immediately into the nearest urgent care, who ambulanced her back to the Arlington Virginia Hospital Center ER.

She is currently on life support for sepsis that quickly invaded her bloodstream into her organs. She had an operation to her right thigh to remove some of the infection. I am off work, to be with my dad, and to try to manage life. I am almost out of vacation hours to cover my medical insurance from work.

My father, Tong Chau, needs me here, along with our extended family. We are asking for your help in any and all expenses to help my father and I cover my mother’s extreme month of medical bills, and for the unexpected future.
