Sam needs help with surgery

Our little Baby Sam is sick. Here's what's going on with him.

Mid-April, Sarah found a lump on his tail. After one of our other cats, Katniss, had cancer and needed an amputation, we are suspicious of lumps and took him to the vet right away. He had a full exam, labs, and aspiration and histology of the lump. It came back positive for atypical mesenchymal proliferation in the presence of neutrophilic inflammation. Is it cancer? Unknown at this point. It could be neoplasia or reactive.

We made an appointment at Medvet Cleveland with Katniss's oncologist and surgeon. Her oncologist said it is best to operate, because we don't know what it is and another aspiration will not be helpful. The surgeon said a tail amputation, possibly leaving a stub, would be the way he would go.

When we got the cats (10 of them at least), we were both working full time. I'm now on disability. I have significant credit card debt and the only thing I have of value, I'm trying to sell. I don't like asking for help but today's visit was over $800. Last week we spent $464 (plus Katniss went to the vet, had surgery, and Molly, Reggie and Maggie went to the vet). Sam's surgery is estimated for $3300-$4400.
