Sam Loyd's - Mental Health & Addiction Treatment
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Susan Loyd. Most of you know that I typically don't share difficult issues that I go through on social media. Those closest to me do know about my hard times and have been a tremendous support system throughout the years. Today I'm reaching out to everyone. Not just for financial assistance, but for emotional support (for Sam) as well.
As a child, Sam was diagnosed with severe anxiety. Over the years, depression got ahold of him. He went from being an extremely social, active, fun-loving kid (that LOVED family & friends) to a teenager that self-medicated using marijuana & alcohol. His addiction started to grow at the age of 17. Today, he's 100% dependent on marijuana just to function. He recently admitted to me that he'd take hits all day, every day. His nighttime routine would be to drink a six-pack of Fireball, alone in his room, just to fall asleep. With the use of pot came EXTREME paranoia, psychosis, and anger issues. Worst of all, he stopped having faith in the people who love him. Friends are now non-existent and family is afraid of saying the wrong things to him. He was lost...and suicidal.
On Saturday, February 4th, Sam called me in the morning to say he was finally ready for help (outside of his normal therapy sessions). Within an hour we were on the phone with Harris House Treatment & Recovery Center. Yesterday, February 6th, he was admitted for 30 days of inpatient care.
Now for the hard part...
There's no doubt in my mind that he's where he needs to be. Hands down. I can finally sleep peacefully for the first time in over 5 years. But with that peace, and with his treatment, comes a heavy price. Harris House charges $607/day for inpatient care - $18,210 total. After my insurance deductible kicks in, the remaining balance will be $7,650.
I don't know how to end this story, other than by saying "Thank you so very much" for reading this and for your consideration. PLEASE call or text Sam if you can. Your emotional support will help him tremendously during his recovery!!
