In Loving Memory of Samuel Eric Lattmann – Request for Support for Funeral Expenses

It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Samuel Eric Lattmann, born September 17, 1994, who tragically passed away on January 11, 2025. Sam was found deceased on the evening of January 11, just days after arriving at a halfway house following his release from jail on January 7th. His cause of death remains unclear, and we are awaiting autopsy results. This sudden loss has left his family devastated, and we are reaching out for support to help cover his funeral expenses during this incredibly difficult time.

Sam’s life was filled with challenges, especially struggles with substance use and mental health. Despite these obstacles, Sam remained determined to turn his life around. Just before his passing, he had accomplished a major milestone: he graduated from a welding program in jail. This achievement meant the world to him. He was incredibly proud of his hard work and dedication, and he had recently secured a job that he was excited to start on Monday, January 13, 2025 — two days after his passing. Sam had hope for a fresh start, a chance at stability, and a brighter future. His determination to overcome his past struggles was something his family will always remember with pride.

Although Sam faced many hardships, he always showed a deep interest in others. He had a natural ability to connect with people, making them feel heard and understood. His infectious sense of humor brought joy to those around him, and he could always find a way to make people smile. His warmth and compassion made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Sam was especially close to his grandmothers, Maxine Lattmann and Zayda Rivera, who played pivotal roles in his upbringing. He lovingly cared for his grandmother Zayda, cooking meals for her, helping her around the house, taking her to appointments, and running errands for her during her last years of life without her husband Conrado. Sam devoted much of his time to ensuring she was well cared for until her passing in March 2024.

Although we are shattered that Sam is no longer with us, we are comforted by the thought that Sam is now in the warm embrace of his grandmothers, grandpa, Uncle Harold, dog Max, and other beloved family members and friends who have gone before him. Uncle Harold, like Sam, was the youngest of three siblings and passed away unexpectedly around the same age, which makes this loss even more poignant for his family.

Sam’s passing leaves a void in the lives of many. He is survived by his parents, Rosalina Rivera and Bill Lattmann, siblings Angela Lattmann and Steven Lattmann, nephew Jonathan Hunter Lattmann, and many other family members and friends who are devastated by his untimely passing. His legacy of love, humor, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

In this time of great grief, we humbly ask for donations to help cover funeral costs. Since we didn't get to say goodbye, we would like to give Sam a proper send-off and an opportunity for family and friends to celebrate his life. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated — no amount is too small. Your generosity will provide much-needed support as Sam’s family navigates this heartbreaking time and works to honor his memory in a meaningful way.

Thank you for your compassion, support, and generosity.
