Sam graduates! Please help send Sam to Africa!

For those who have known me since I was little, I've always had a desire to visit and possibly work in Africa. As I've grown older and my interest in international human rights has developed, my dream of working overseas has strengthened as well. Unbeknownst to me, my Aunt Mary and Uncle Peter were planning a trip to Africa to visit good friends in Cape Town, but first to Rwanda to visit my cousin who works there in an urban planning organization, which is in some ways a cousin of what I would like to eventually do.
Out of the blue my aunt and uncle asked me if I would like to come on the trip. They said they would cover everything on the ground (except Cape Town flight and gorillas, see below) if I could get myself to Africa and back. My mom has enough miles on her credit card to get me there and back, and I am pitching in from my savings and money from my two jobs; however I will also be starting to contribute to my college expenses this fall at Macalester in St. Paul, Minnesota, where I will study international and domestic human rights. I'm extremely excited for this unexpected opportunity, especially as going to Africa will help inform me of what specifically I want to focus on in college and beyond.
Rwanda during the 25th anniversary of the genocide will be transformative for me. The first time I learned about it in school was in 2014-the spring of my 7th grade year--the very week that the genocide had begun 20 years before. I remember being very impacted by the movies we watched about the event; seeing the country a quarter of a century later will be an extremely important and eye-opening experience. This is one of the parts of the trip from which I believe I can and will gain the most.
In addition, my aunt, uncle, and cousin had booked a two day trip in southwestern Uganda: gorilla trekking, which consists of hiking alongside gorillas and camping overnight near the reserve. I would love to go along with them on this part of the Africa trip. The money raised on this page would go towards this trek, the flight from Rwanda to South Africa, food and lodging for layovers in Doha, Johannesburg, and Abu Dhabi, and other incidentals, such as vaccinations.
Any contribution, even $5 or $10, is greatly appreciated and would go a long way towards making this trip a reality.
     Thank you so much!
