On Sunday, May 20th, my brother Sam went out to do what he lives for – Skateboarding. Sam has been an avid skateboarder since he was in Elementary school and started getting sponsored by local shops when he was 12 years old.

He set out with a photographer and Filmer to land the perfect trick. Well, that was not meant to be.

While cameras were rolling he knew that he wasn’t going to land the trick so he tried to step off the board before falling off a stair ledge. He ended up falling off the stair ledge landing on the left side of his body on concrete, face first resulting in a concussion, facial injuries, broken wrist, ribs and multiple pelvic fractures.

He was in the ICU for 4 days, He had surgery on his wrist where they placed an external fixator that will require another surgery to remove. He is now in a regular hospital room where they will start occupational and physical therapy. He cannot place any weight on his left side due to the multiple fractures of his pelvis. The doctors are hopeful that with time these will heal on their own without requiring surgery. During this time, he will only be able to get around in a wheelchair and they estimate it will be at least 8 weeks.

Unfortunately he just started a new career and the benefits have not kicked in yet and the medical bills will be high, not to mention paying rent, food, etc…

Sam will not be able to work during his recovery process that will take at least 4 months for him to recover and go back to work.

Any contributions, no matter the amount, will make a big difference for Sam to help cover his expenses.
