Hola, mi nombre es Gerardo. Tengo 67 años, soy padre de dos maravillosos hijos y orgulloso abuelo de cinco nietos que son la luz de mi vida.

Cuando tenía 32 años, sufrí un grave accidente que casi me cuesta la pierna derecha. El impacto me dejó con 57 fracturas en el fémur y la rodilla derecha, cambiando por completo mi vida. En 2010, un segundo accidente agravó aún más mi condición.

Desde entonces, me he sometido a varias cirugías. Con esfuerzo y mucha fe, logré volver a caminar, aunque con grandes dificultades. Sin embargo, hoy enfrento una nueva y urgente batalla: una infección bacteriana dentro de la rodilla que, si no es tratada a tiempo, podría obligar a los médicos a amputar mi pierna.

Mi condición de diabético y el desgaste de tantos años hacen que esta cirugía sea urgente y vital. Pero, lamentablemente, en Honduras no contamos con acceso a un sistema de salud que cubra este tipo de procedimientos, y el costo es inalcanzable para mí y mi familia.

La movilidad limitada me impide trabajar y generar ingresos, lo que hace esta situación aún más difícil. A pesar de ello, mis hijos, mi familia y amigos están haciendo todo lo posible para recaudar fondos por medio de actividades benéficas.

Hoy recurro a ustedes con humildad, fe y esperanza. Caminar, trabajar y volver a jugar con mis nietos es mi mayor sueño. Cada pequeño aporte es una gran ayuda para acercarme a una vida digna, activa y sin dolor.

Hello, my name is Gerardo. I’m 67 years old, a proud father of two wonderful children, and a grandfather to five amazing grandchildren who are the light of my life.

When I was 32, I had a serious accident that nearly cost me my right leg. I suffered 57 fractures in my femur and right knee, completely changing my life. In 2010, another accident worsened the same knee.

Since then, I’ve undergone several surgeries. With effort and faith, I was able to walk again—though with great difficulty. However, today I’m facing a new and urgent challenge: a bacterial infection inside the knee that, if left untreated, may result in amputation.

My condition as a diabetic, along with years of strain on my knee, has made this situation critical. The surgery needed is urgent and vital, but unfortunately, living in Honduras means I don’t have access to medical insurance, and the cost is simply beyond my means.

My limited mobility has made it nearly impossible for me to work and earn an income, which has made this struggle even harder. Despite this, my children, family, and friends are doing everything they can—organizing fundraising events to help cover the cost of this life-changing surgery.

Today, I reach out to you with humility, faith, and hope. To walk again, to work, and to play with my grandchildren is my greatest dream. Every donation, no matter the amount, is a step closer to regaining my life.
