Mi nombre es Diego Amaral, hijo de Geraldo Amaral, quien construyó con sus propias manos la embarcación Galeón Bucanero en el año 1990, en el Amazonas del Brasil. Fue el producto de un sueño de mi padre y una promesa a mi madre Marly Mardini, cartagenera y un regalo para engalanar a la ciudad de Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, evocando la época de corsarios y piratas.
Debido a la pandemia del Covid-19, el Galeón Bucanero fue obligado a cerrar al público y el 19 de septiembre de 2020, sufrió una emergencia por el ingreso y la extracción del agua, lo que provocó hundimiento de la embarcación.
El Galeón Bucanero, se encuentra actualmente hundido en las aguas de la bahía de Cartagena, Colombia y aún estamos a tiempo de salvarlo; sin embargo se requieren los recursos para sacarlo a flote con buzos, equipos y herramientas y poder trasladarlo a un astillero con remolcadores y herramientas de flotación y así realizar las reparaciones por los daños sufridos en la emergencia.
Ayudemos a recuperar y salvar al Galeón Bucanero que es un patrimonio de todos los cartageneros, colombianos y los turistas del mundo que lo visitan año a año como un símbolo de la historia, arte y cultura de Cartagena de Indias, Patrimonio Histórico de la Humanidad declarado por la UNESCO.
My name is Diego Amaral, son of Geraldo Amaral, who built the Galeón Bucanero with his own hands in 1990, in the Brazilian Amazon. It was the product of a dream of my father and a promise to my mother Marly Mardini, from Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, and a gift to decorate the city, evoking the era of corsairs and pirates.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bucanero Galleon was forced to close to the public and on September 19, 2020, it suffered an emergency due to the entry and extraction of water, which caused the sinking of the ship.
The Bucanero Galleon, is currently sunk in the waters of the bay of Cartagena, Colombia and there is still time to save it; however, the resources are required to bring it out with divers, equipment and tools and to be able to transfer it to a shipyard with tugboats and flotation tools and thus make the repairs for the damages suffered in the emergency.
Let's help recover and save the Buccaneer Galleon which is a heritage of all cartageneros, Colombians and tourists of the world who visit it year after year as a symbol of the history, art and culture of Cartagena de Indias, a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO.
