As many of you know our Papa is incredibly physically fit and active in both his daily work and personal life. He loves to play Racquetball and is the rock of our family.
A few weeks ago Papa starting feeling ill, after finally being convienced by family to go to the Dr. what we thought was something that would pass quickly became the fight for his life. After blood work the local doctors referred him to a specialist which would take weeks to be seen. With encouragement from his family we quickly brought him to Mexico where a Docter would be waiting for him to be seen immediately. After additional scans and biopsies Papa was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non Hodgkin Burkitt Lymphoma.
He is currently in a hospital in Mexico and with a compromised immune system is physically not cleared to travel home to Fort Bragg, so he will remain in Mexico for treatment.
He begins chemotherapy today 7-14-16 (coincidentally our parents' 43rd wedding anniversary) and will need 6 to 8 rounds of treatment. He will end up being in Mexico until mid December to early January.
As most of you know Papa is self employed, and working will be impossible with the debilitating side effects of chemo. Any contributions made are greatly appreciated and will used for expenses incurred while having treatment.
Yecenia is keeping Facebook updated as the doctors give us more information, so please check her page if you'd like updates on Pa's progress.
Mom and Yecenia are with Papa now and are trying to keep him in good spirits; he may not have expected to have a fight with cancer but he's going to give it all he's got.
Our deepest thanks for your positive thoughts, prayers, well-wishes and generosity.
