Salvador's Funeral Expenses

My son Salvador will be having open heart surgery on August 2, 2021. The surgery he will undergo is called a Potts Shunt. I have included a picture explaining this surgery. The surgery will take place in St. Louis, Missouri. Salvador has been battling Pulmonary Hypertension since he was a baby. He has undergone open heart surgery at 1 years old. He had a VSD closure in hope's to help with his Pulmonary. He was referred to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital to Dr. Feinstein when we were told Phoenix Children's Hospital could no longer help him. So far he has been managed by lots of meds. We have since went from once a year visits to every three months. We were told last year that Salvador's progress has slowly changed and he will eventually need a lung transplant. Things have been very hard with insurance not wanting to approve his surgery.  They have placed a cap on him. All his doctors keep writing his insurance explaining that he needs surgery. Dr. Feinstein attended a conference which Dr. Grady at St. Louis Children's Hospital was speaking at about Pulmonary Hypertension and Potts Shunt Surgery. We all agreed to have Salvador's records sent to him. Dr. Grady agreed that Salvador would be a good candidate for this surgery.  We found out last month that the insurance approved his surgery. I am starting this page because we will need a little help with lodging, food, medical out of pocket, transportation since we will be flying there, and more. Hoping to get into Ronald McDonald House so I don't need to pay so much out of pocket. Was told I can't be referred there till 72 hours before arrival. I will probably be out of work for about 4 weeks if everything goes well and still need to take care of things here back home. All his brothers will be going with us to be there for him. I could use all the help we can get. As of now I am being told that Sal, his older brother and I will be able to go in the hospital. If things change I will let everyone know.  I have been asked by family if they can be there. I am just trying to get things going to take some stress off of us all. I put $5000 as a goal but honestly don't know exactly how much we will need. Please keep Salvador in your thoughts and prayers. He has to be at the St. Louis Children's Hospital by July 28 for several tests prior to surgery. So far he is in good spirits and he keeps telling me he will be fine.
