Salvador Urbina School Support
I recently visited Salvador Urbina in Chiapas Mexico to learn about the Cafe Justo Coffee Coop. The family I stayed with is involved in the middle school, several children attending and the father is head of the parent organization. I asked the father to show me the school and simply asked "What do you need?" He told me about personally constructing a covered walkway between classrooms to protect the students during the rainy season but not having enough money to complete the project. I asked him how much money he needed to finish the project and he said," the equivalent of $2,000." The school runs two shifts starting at 7:00am and ending at 8:00pm. The school principal was so gracious and surprised that someone from the US was interested in their school. I would like to show them how Americans feel about supporting Mexican children in their pursuit of education and dignity.
