Sal's Road to Recovery

Hi All,

Our names are Jaclyn and Taylor Messina. We are Sal's daughters. In the last couple of days our lives changed very drastically. We went from having the most upbeat, young-hearted, and independent Dad to having to help with the most simple tasks, around the clock.

For anyone who knows my Dad, Sal, you know he has the biggest heart and cares so deeply for people. He never hesitates to try and help every person he can, whether they are a friend or stranger. Unfortunately, recent events have led to my Dad now being the one who needs support from friends and strangers alike.

My dad suffered a heart attack for the second time on the basketball court, doing what he loves. He was revived and taken to the hospital where he was in great care and eager to go home a few days later. What we didn't know at the time, was when his heart stopped for those few moments, a blood clot formed and traveled to his brain. The day he was to be released from the hospital, he suffered a severe stroke which caused the left side of his body to lose full mobility. In typical Sal fashion his positive attitude, humor, and- most importantly - fight hasn't gone anywhere, and we want to make sure it stays that way. But we need help.

While Sal is focused on getting healthy and back to his old self again, his family is focused on helping him in any way possible.

We are asking for support to help pay for medical bills, rehabilitation, and other medical expenses while he starts his long journey to recovery. Just having his family in the room with him makes him so happy and motivated to get stronger every day.
