Sal's Barcelona Study Abroad

Hello, my name is Salvatore La Marca. I am currently a sophomore at Bloomsburg University double majoring in Spanish and Computer Science. I understand that the best way for me to become truly fluent in Spanish is to become immersed in the language completely. Therefore I have chosen to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain in the summer of 2023 through my school’s global education office. Being bilingual would open a world of opportunities for me in the future not just professionally but personally as well. My goals for this trip are to become more confident when speaking the Spanish language, learn about Spanish culture, and experience independent living and the challenges that could arise along with that.

I want to make myself more marketable to my future employers by being fluent in Spanish and by being able to provide different perspectives as a person that has traveled to other countries.

Now that I have applied to study at Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, I have to secure funding for the program. The cost of this program is $8,995.00 and includes the following:

-Tuition

-Housing

-Meals

-Cultural Activities

-Travel Insurance

-Airport Transportation

This GoFundMe is to fundraise money towards the listed cost of this program.

I am a full-time student, but I also hold part times jobs at an Amazon Delivery Warehouse (Flex) Weis Markets, and with La Marca Home Improvements. During the semester, I hold a work-study job on campus as well. The money I make from these jobs is going towards any personal expenses while in Spain and to cover the cost of the airline ticket.
