Remembering Saloni – A Fund to Support Her Family

In Loving Memory of Saloni Aitawadekar (1998–2025)

Gone too soon, never forgotten.

We are heartbroken to share the tragic passing of our dear friend, Saloni Aitawadekar, who lost her life in a devastating accident on July 7th, 2025, at 5:40 PM at the intersection of Elgin and Laurier in Ottawa. She was just 27 years old.

Saloni came to Canada as an international student at Algonquin College, full of dreams and determination. After years of incredible effort and resilience, she recently received her Permanent Residency — a milestone she worked tirelessly to achieve. She was building a life filled with hope, love, and purpose.

Saloni was one of the kindest, most loving souls anyone could ever meet. Always vibrant, smiling, and radiating positivity — she had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and cared for. Whether you spoke to her for a minute or knew her for years, her presence left a lasting impression.

She was the only child of Rekha Aitawadekar, a single mother from India who raised Saloni with immense strength and sacrifice. Saloni was the head of their household — supporting her mother emotionally and financially. Her sudden passing has not only left a deep emotional void but has also placed a tremendous burden on her grieving mother, who is now facing overwhelming loss from across the world.

We are creating this GoFundMe to support Saloni’s family during this incredibly difficult time. All funds raised will go directly to Rekha Aitawadekar, who has lost not only her beloved daughter but also her source of strength and support. She was a beautiful soul who deserved so much more time, and she will be missed beyond words.

In Saloni’s memory, we also invite you to join us for a memorial gathering to honor her life and place ghost shoes in her name — a symbol to remember the lives lost on our streets.
