This is a story of a 53 years young woman having her life plucked from her and her children's lives too soon. This is a story about a woman with no life insurance to fund her end of life needs. This is a story about Sally Cook.
Sally Cook is my sister and my name is Peter. Sally, by the way, is somehow a nick name for Sarah. And Sarah had over the course of her life morphed into Sarah Wells Hamblin. There should probably be a hyphen there some where... but she has always been just Sally to me.
Sally married one of my best friends out of high school. J. Wells... I think I asked him once if his name was J like in Jay and he answered no, that it was just J. If you don't know J. I am sure you must have met one of his and Sally's kids: Joslin and J.T. Wells... Joslin is Sally's middle name and the J. in J.T. is an old family name... (lol) okay short for James Thomas.
Sally and J. split over time and then later there was Billy... Billy Hamblin. Another good guy and salt of the Earth which explains two more Sally daughters... (poor J.T.) but to our great fortune Samantha and Katelyn Hamblin. The girls are both married now and they are both doing very well.
Sally had another daughter Ashley Smith... She is a BHS grad and an accomplished equestrian. Ashley works very hard balancing her work schedule as well as a busy barn schedule.
According to Doctors... Sally has had acute problems with her lungs for quite a while. These problems have exacerbated into the heart and brain. Sally never slowed down and never let on about the seriousness of her condition. Sally was getting pneumonia more frequently and we all knew she was ill... but no one expected for this to happen.
I am sure that my family is going to be mad at me for this, but I want my sister to have a nice wake. I want a ton of her friends and family to be on hand to show her how much she was loved. Pride is a good thing to have, but when it reaches a point… something needs to equal it out. I’ll take the heat for being that guy.
Sally is still on life support at CCH but we are told it is just a matter of time. I don’t know how much a funeral is but I will have the particulars next week.
