This is my mother.

My dotingly benevolent mother.

My gentle, kind  mother.

My beautiful mother.

On Thursday 18th October my family were given the most devastating news. Stage IV, terminal cancer. Those words were poison to us all seeping into our home and hearts. For days we were utterly numb with pain, disbelief, anger and sheer devastation.

But on Thursday 1st November we were given a glimmer of hope. Miracle workers in the form of doctors, nurses, surgeons and pharmaceutical scientists have offered a new drug that is and can save people like my mum.

The only thing that casts a shadow on us now is the cost of this treatment. It is simply unaffordable for us as a family.

So now we turn to you, the community, to help.

My mum has given her life to teaching and improving the lives of the future generation and now it’s time the community can give something back to this magnificent woman.

I’m 22 and my brother, Sam, is 19 we are not ready to say goodbye yet.
