Sally Reno facing homelessness--needs our help!

Sally Reno, who many of you know as the Pythoness of Blink Ink, has been a staple of the writing and flash fiction community for many years. She has probably published you. Or you've been in a workshop, or on retreat, on at a reading with her over the years. Sally is funny, sharp, fiercely smart, and if you have ever seen her reading her work on Zoom wearing her purple wig--you already adore her.

Sally is 73 and her husband is 70, and they both have severe mobility challenges. After living in their current apartment in Denver for almost 20 years, the building has been sold to make high-priced condos, and Sally and Terry are facing an impending eviction. On a fixed budged, with few extra resources to make an unexpected move in expensive Denver, Sally is now not only trying to find a new apartment they can afford in less than 30 days, but also facing the expensive reality of security deposits, extra month's rent, and hiring movers, as their mobility limitations do not allow them to even pack their own boxes.

I will refrain from getting on the soap box about capitalism and gentrification--but this is what it looks like on the ground, when long-term, elderly tenents are forced to move with 30 days notice.

Sally and Terry are facing homelessness if they can't find an apartment and gather the funds before the deadline, which is fast approaching. Hopefully we will not have to find couches for an elderly, mobility-challenged couple, but that is the much less attractive Plan B.
