Help Sally and Charles during medical emergency
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rebecca and I am fundraising for Sally, Charles and their four kiddos (all under seven years old).
Yesterday, he had an aortic aneurysm and had an 11 hour emergency surgery. The surgery went longer than they thought because he had lost a lot of blood and it took longer to clot. He is in the ICU and we are hoping for the best outcome for him.
He will have a long recovery ahead. He will be at the hospital for the near future. When he is able to come home the recovery is six months. He will not be able to go back to work anytime soon. Sally is a stay at home Mom and could really use support.
Update: due to complications trying to come out of sedation he had to go on an ECMO machine (it breaths for you and keeps your heart going) and was rushed into emergency surgery again. He made it safely out from surgery and they are closely monitoring him.
Update 2: in the last 24 hours Charles is able to be awake for some parts of the day. Tonight, they were able to take out the intubation as he has been breathing on his own. He is running a bit of a fever and they are watching him closely for signs of infection. He is able to answer questions by nodding his head or shaking it for no. We continue to hope and pray for recovery. Sally is incredibly grateful for all the support. Thank you!
Update 3: Charles is still in ICU but he is doing much better than he was. He had a dialysis port put in for his kidney’s that is better than the other one he had. He will keep this one until he doesn’t need it anymore. He is starting to get up and walk a few steps but tires easily as he has been in ICU for weeks. It is lovely to be able to talk to “same old Charles” and we continue to hope he will be well enough to be out of ICU eventually.
We have started this go fund me to help cover groceries, meals and living expenses while Charles is not able to work. Please share and help in any way that you can.
