As many of you know, the Brasfield Family has been through a great deal the past couple of months. Sallie Walker Brasfield was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama on March 9th, 2019 and stayed there until she went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the evening of March 27th, 2019. Secondary to a collapsed lung, she had been treated for pneumonia, only to discover that her breast cancer had metastasized into her lungs. She also had been dealing with serious liver issues. Her loving husband, Terry, of 42 years has been consistently by her side and has taken FMLA (Family Medical Leave of Absence), since his vacation and sick days have already been used to care for his wife. With FMLA, your job is secured, but pay is not. Even with insurance coverage, the cost of caring for a loved one with multiple health issues can be a heavy financial burden, that we feel should not be carried alone.
