There is a saying that when it rains it pours...well my sisters family got hail!
My my dear sister and best friend found a lump
in her breast and was very shortly thereafter diagnosed with breast cancer to begin chemo ASAP!
On Friday, October 26th, #3 of the chemo treatments for my sweet sister started as a normal chemo day. We got there and got set up in Bay 5 for the all day event, it takes about 8 hours. This day we were blessed to have Craig, her dear husband, to join us. The day went as planned although we hate the third main chemical of the treatment because this is the time when she wears ice mitts, booties, & eats ice for 60 minutes. This is to reduce the chances of neuropathy to the hands and feet and mouth sores. It stinks to watch your best friend hurt but knowing it’s best, makes you endure the internal pain as you watch her endure the physical pain. At the end of he day I took my sis home and her hubby stopped get her favorite chocolate milk.
I headed home and left them to have their evening chill time! As the night went on I got a text informing me my sis had to take her hubby, Craig, to the ER due to chest pain. He was hospitalized that evening and needed major heart surgery to fix his problem. He had open heart surgery with a mitral valve replacement and triple bypass.
Medical insurance they have but the out of pocket costs are building and the medication is expensive. My brother in law does not get paid when he’s not at work and he could be off for 2 months....hopefully no more! My sister has to take off due to the extensive chemo and treatments she has to endure. One of these alone could be manageable but two catastrophic events are overwhelming emotionally, physically, & financially. I have set this up in hopes to help them pay their bills for a couple months.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
