My beloved sister Alyce Miller, Age 35 was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Adrenal Carcinoma; a rare aggressive cancer affecting about 1 in a million. Being such a rare cancer the prognosis is not great but we are hopeful that advancements in treatment will put Alyce on the right side of some difficult statistics.
Alyce is a loving mother of two little girls; Sophia 5 Olivia 3 and a nurse at BMC , Berkshire Medical Center as a critical unit step down nurse.

Alyce began suffering with symptoms last fall which included back pain, fatigue, and weight gain. She was diagnosed with high blood pressure and was put on medication. Her symptoms persisted and despite feeling so poorly Alyce continued to work and care for the girls with that same big beautiful smile. With no real diagnosis it was difficult ascertain the cause. We thought the stress of being a full time nurse, and the mother of two active toddlers was contributing to her symptoms and that in time with some rest and relaxation her symptoms would subside. Alyce changed her diet and spent a lot time and money on natural ways to manage her stress all with no avail. In March, Alyce began gaining weight at a rapid pace. She knew something wasn't right. After having lab work done, the results showed extremely high levels of cortisol being produced which was very concerning. She insisted a MRI be done and results were a 9 cm tumor on her adrenal gland. Even after hearing those results, Alyce was ready to show up to her shift as a step down nurse amidst the height of COVID-19-a testament to her love and dedication to her job.
1. May 12, 2020 Alyce had surgery to remove the tumor on her adrenal gland at Bay State Hospital in Springfield.
2. CAT scans were done end of June to see if the cancer had spread. The results showed a lung nodule which was concerning and it was recommended the nodule be removed. On July 2nd, Alyce spent her 35th Birthday at Brigham and Women's Hospital having surgery. Unfortunately, the pathology report came back that the nodule was cancerous and she was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic Adrenal Cancer.
3. The recommended treatment plan for Alyce is aggressive chemo starting on July 27th. She will take oral chemo along with six months of intravenous chemotherapy
Please help Alyce and girls . Our goal is to have Alyce not worry about money. We want her to be able to relax ,rest and heal and be able to be a mother to her girls . The money raised will go towards lost income as Alyce will not be able to work, (the one thing she misses greatly) along with medical costs, travel expenses to Boston, child care and housekeeping.
To all friends and family that have donated by sending money, cooking meals, etc . Thank you!! We are so grateful and blessed for the outpouring of love and support for Alyce. It means so much to Alyce and our family.❤️
