Update 4/2022!  Well our first year is in the books!  We had an amazing first season with 24 girls learning this amazing sport! We raised enough money that there were no ice fees.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!  We ended our season with a bang!  2 Scrimmages against the Methuen Red Ranger girls youth team and an intersquad scrimmage and senior night!  Now we hope to move on to bigger and better things.  Varsity Ice Hockey!  Mr. Insinga has let us know that the cost to field a varsity team is $43,000. Hi everyone, The Hoover family is raising money to support the founding of the Salem Girls Hockey Club. Growing up in a hockey family we were surprised when we found out that Salem High did not have a girls hockey program. Two years ago Grace, then 7th grade, chased Mr. Insinga across the SHS fields to propose the idea. After many meetings, emails and other on field encounters Mr. Insinga has helped us support and organize ice time. So now comes the hard part! Because we are not a varsity sport at the school we are self funded. We have to pay for ice time (2x per week from December to February), practice jerseys, socks, and pucks. We are also taking donations of used hockey gear as well since many of the girls are not currently on a team. Some of the girls are new to hockey so we are starting with practices and internal scrimmages. Our plan is to line up some scrimmages with other schools/teams by the end of the year.
