Salem al Bakri, Beirut Port Blast Victim in Need of Surgery

Hi, I am Karim, and I am fundraising for Salem El-Bakri. Salem, 45 years old, was born in Zuqaq al-Blat, Beirut, Lebanon and now lives in Choueifat, a Beirut Suburb. He used to work as a driver for a private company, and his life was stable and simple. But everything changed on August 4, 2020. He was severely injured in the Beirut Port explosion, and was severely wounded in his head and legs. Since then, he hasn’t been able to walk or leave his home. It has now been almost five years. Today, he urgently needs bone surgery—without it, his leg is at risk of amputation. His surgery and treatment will cost at least $3,000. The official authorities are refusing to take on his medical expenses.
مرحبًا، أنا كريم، وأجمع تبرعات لصالح سالم البكري. سالم، البالغ من العمر 45 عامًا، وُلد في زقاق البلاط في بيروت، لبنان، ويعيش حاليًا في الشويفات، إحدى ضواحي بيروت. كان يعمل سائقًا لدى شركة خاصة، وكانت حياته مستقرة وبسيطة. لكن كل شيء تغيّر في الرابع من آب 2020. فقد أُصيب بجروح خطيرة في انفجار مرفأ بيروت، وتعرض لإصابات بالغة في رأسه وساقيه. ومنذ ذلك الحين، لم يعد قادرًا على المشي أو مغادرة منزله. وقد مضت الآن قرابة خمس سنوات. اليوم، هو بحاجة ماسة إلى عملية جراحية في العظم، إذ إن ساقه مهددة بالبتر في حال لم يخضع للجراحة. تكلفة العملية والعلاج لا تقل عن 3000 دولار، والجهات الرسمية ترفض تغطية نفقاته الطبية.
