Sal Schomber Medical Fundraiser

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of my brother Sal’s medical status with our friends. Last year Sal was diagnosed with Stage 3 esophageal cancer. The cancer has unfortunately spread deeper into the wall of his esophagus. Devastatingly, Sal is also suffering from end-stage liver failure. Those conditions combined mean that there is no meaningful course of treatment left for him to pursue. Doctors are going to make him as comfortable as possible, treating some of the symptoms, but the situation is dire.

Due to the struggle Sal is facing, including ambulatory dysfunction and trouble breathing, he is no longer able to work on a permanent basis. For the moment, he has no income coming in and little resources to rely on. While friends and family are stepping in to help where we can, he is facing deeper and deeper financial distress at the moment. Financial issues including housing costs (well past due), medical costs, even food and medicine, are adding to his mounting worries.

There are also his final wishes to be carried out. As hard as that is for me to even contemplate, the practical matters must be faced by those who love him.

We ask for your prayers and to keep Sal in your hearts and minds. He has been a source of fun and laughter, and a good friend for so many of us over the years. He has been my brother and my true friend. I can only say that I am beyond heartbroken.

All donations are going directly to Sal to pay for his immediate and future needs, however long God keeps him with us.
