According to one study, only 36% of India's 355 million menstruating females use sanitary napkins, while the rest use old rags, husk, ash, leaves, mud and soil and such other life-threatening materials to manage their flow. If these females are special needs or from poor families it makes things even worse.

With you generosity, I was able to raise $1500 overnight during my Detroit Free Press Marathon in Oct 2022. The funds were directly used to create reusable sanitary kits for 200 girls and educate them on good sanitary procedures. Megha Joshi, who led the program boots on the ground, is a renowned child psychologist and special education teacher, journalist and social worker.

Megha and I grew up on the same street 3 decades ago. Our geographies meant we lost touch.

We reconnected in 2022, on a common mission when I was seeking a purpose driven social cause that I could help, without worrying about where my money is getting lost in administrative mazes!

Given the success of our small program and what's to come, we would use up our existing funds in next couple months.

I will be back, with my boots on the ground, running Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on Oct 28 2023.

My goal is to finish my marathon (26.2 miles / 42.2 kms) in 4 hours 45 minutes.
