Sakellis Family Big Basin Fire

Wildfire flames raced through Big Basin Redwoods State Park in California on Tuesday and destroyed multiple structures, including the historic headquarters, the nature center, campgrounds and more.
My cousin, Michael Sakellis, his wife Kim, and two children John and Nicolas were evacuated from their home on the State Park grounds at the beginning of the week. They ran out of the house with the clothes on their backs, and nothing else.
Michael has worked for Big Basin Redwoods State Park for over 10 years as a Park Supervisor and lives in a house on-site. He was told today by officials that they lost everything- their home, barn, and 2 vehicles. This was devastating news. They are safe and temporarily staying with family in another part of California at the moment.
