The waiting has gone on for too long: Saint Augustine has been trying to build a new skatepark for years, but continually runs into issues. Yet, skateparks are only a small part of the skateboarding story; they’re a response to a movement that continues to exist independent of them. The streets and the DIY projects are the endeavors that truly edify skating. This is why we’ve decided that we’re done waiting!
It’s time to build a vert ramp. 11ft high x 24 ft wide x 16ft of flat-bottom. I have a home located in a neighborhood with no HOA. Insurance has given us the blessing. My neighbor has as well. And all will be welcome to come enjoy. The local kids could use an outlet. Vert skating is unique. It is a niche activity that helps build confidence. Additionally, it offers cardiovascular exercise with complimentary thrills. And, it’s as true to the skate scene as you can get. I bet when you hear the word skateboard, one of the first things comes to mind is a good old fashioned half-pipe!
So donate, share, and spread the word. This is about having fun with our friends and giving back to a movement that has given us more than we could ever return. Each dollar given could help change someone’s life from their first tail drop to their first Smith grind! Funds will help us bring people together. In doing so, we’ll play a part in tackling some of the social, mental, physical, and spiritual health crises right in our little corner of the world... all with the hope of leading others into being agents of positive change.
