My name is Saima. I am a single mother and a dedicated PhD researcher specialising in cancer drug delivery. My work is focused on developing innovative approaches that could one day improve treatment options for patients facing life-threatening illness.

Today, however, I find myself fighting a different battle.

For the past two years, I have been living with severe, chronic sciatica. The pain is relentless. There are days when I cannot stand for long, walk comfortably, or sleep through the night. Despite ongoing treatment, physiotherapy, and medication, my condition continues to affect every part of my life.

As a mother, my greatest fear is not the pain — it is the instability this illness has created for my child and our future.

Because my mobility and ability to work consistently have been impacted, I am now facing serious financial hardship. I am struggling to cover:

• Rent and safe accommodation

• Medical treatment and specialist care
