Sailor’s Emergency Care
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Michelle and I am hoping to raise money to help pay for my dog, Sailor’s, emergency medical treatment. Sailor is the most lovable goofball of a dog who went from being a healthy and very energetic 4.5 year old to lethargic and extremely sick overnight. On April 14, he suddenly became ravenously thirsty and had frequent urination and accidents for several days causing the vet to give him an IV, run bloodwork, and put him on an antibiotic in case of an infection that didn’t show up on the tests. On the day of the last dose of his medication, he was unable to walk and had a severe seizure that left him immobile for hours where I was convinced that I lost him. Three days in the emergency hospital, appointments with a neurologist, and multiple bloodwork panels later, nothing was found. After meeting with an internist, having an abdomen ultrasound, and more GI bloodwork panels, we still don’t have a definitive diagnosis other than he has severe GI issues and B12/Folate deficiencies. He is currently on five medications in an effort to help with his constant nausea, licking/gulping attacks, and vomiting that last hours at a time (no such luck yet) and is trying a new prescription dog food. Sailor was also born with a heart murmur that has gotten more significant over the years which limits his ability to have certain tests done such as an MRI without also having an EKG done to see if his heart can even sustain being put under anesthesia. The specialists are still stumped and each day, he continues to get worse and lose weight and appears to be in more pain. It breaks my heart to watch him suffer and I want to do anything possible to get him the medical attention that he needs so he can continue to live a happy, healthy life since he is so young. I am struggling financially to afford all of these hospital visits and tests on my own as there is no clear diagnosis or end in sight. Sail is the best thing to ever happen to me and I am desperate to give him the medical care and testing he needs to properly diagnose and treat him and am praying for a miracle. In the past month, I’ve spent $4,000 and more testing is still needed. Any contribution no matter how small will help provide my beloved Sailor with the ongoing internist and neurologist care he needs and I will be eternally grateful!
