Sailor's Celebration of Life
Donation protected
Sailor John passed away on January 14th. He sailed around the world and fought in Vietnam and The Gulf War. He dedicated his life to serving our country. As a lifelong Sailor, his final wishes were to be laid to rest at sea. Unfortunately, his veterans benefits only cover a burial plot which would go against his final wishes. So we need a little help from his friends to raise the money to give him the proper send off that he deserved.
The funds will go towards cremating him so that his friends can come together to sprinkle his ashes in Lauderdale by The Sea. His only family was his son Avery who lives in Ohio. We will also use the donated funds to bring his son to Florida to celebrate his life with us. No amount is too small, please give whatever you can comfortably afford.
Sailor delighted us all with his crazy stories from his travels around the world. Although he didn't have much to give monetarily, he was always willing to reach into his pocket to help a friend in need. He was a stubborn old goat, but he had a beautiful heart that he shared with anybody he deemed worth it.
Most of all, I will miss his sense of humor. When I picture sailor, I will always see him putting That's Amore on the jukebox and doing a hula dance from his bar stool. I can't think of anybody else that would associate hula dancing with an Italian song, but that was our Sailor. He used to let me dress him up in all kinds of crazy costumes for different holidays. He thought it was ridiculous but always played along. I am honored that such a beautiful human being called me his best friend. He spent his days in the Ocean Mist because he enjoyed all of our companionship. I am thankful that he had so many friends that he could spend his final years laughing with. He got so much more than Budweiser from his favorite bar.
