Hello!
For some folks, boats are a summer pastime, for some they are a hobby, but there are also those for whom a boat is the meaning of life. One such man is longtime Swantown resident Jim Adams. Many of you know Jim and his kind heart, his little dog Ginger, and the other love of his life, his boat, Pendragon.
You may have heard the sad tale of his boat troubles: an engine replacement completed and then wiped out by water intrusion through the exhaust and then a brand new electric engine install that has gone sideways. Jim has been diligently working to get his boat ready for cruising the last 3 years and was dreaming of finally getting to sail his beloved Pendragon to Canada and beyond. This summer, the work was due to finally be wrapped up. But a problem has developed; the new electric engine is in, but now there is leaking at the shaft log causing the need to stay close to the dock until it can be repaired. Jim has hauled out twice in the last 6 weeks, exhausting his funds, but the problem isn't resolved and he's sadly had to abandon his dream of setting sail.
As we all know, boat repairs can get expensive, especially when they need to be done on the hard. We are fundraising to help Jim cover the costs of these critical repairs so he can finally set sail on his dream journey and leave the boat repairs in the past.
