HOLA!

We have made some purchases this week thanks to you all, and some other friends that are giving us a hand on bringing cheaper gear from USA. So we have decided to sacrifice some of the investment we were going to do on the new sails and...
+ Bought an EPIRB, as the one we had was not working!
+ Bought and hand held DSC VHF radio with distress call to be used in case of emergency.
+ BUT what is the most exciting of all! We got the AIS (Automatic Identification System)!
The national regulations just require one with which you can transmit your boat's information, but we got one with receiver, which means we can read the surrounding boats information, with the maximum cover it can have, about 60NM. What makes us excited about it, is that it will help us a lot with our plan of enrolling in projects for patrolling the Galápagos Marine Reserve.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Stay happy and stay safe.

Hola!

As many of you already know,I am Diego Iglesias, owner and captain of sailing vessel Pepe, a Morgan 38’2” from 1979, which we bought in 2016 with my girl Carolina Pesantez.

In August 22nd we opened this gofundme account. For us it is like shooting our last emergency flare. And all of you have come to our rescue.

We have been able to buy many of the articles we mainly created this account for, such as:

Subscription INREACH = $90
DMS = $560
PNG Inspection= $100
ABG Inspection= $100
Navy Inspection= $100
ABG Fumigation= $200
Departure Port Fees= $100
spare parts (lights, Cables, filters, bulbs, zinc, etc.)= 200
Solar Battery= $288
Food for crossing and Anti-COVID quarantine= $400
COVID PCR Test= $200

From our first post we still have not been able to buy:

AIS = $370
Genoa sail = $1800
Main Sail= $1800
Refrigeration system= $500

We are very sure that there will always be more things popping up. Still, we would like to share with you that the next step is to gear up the boat so that in the long term we serve as a self sustained tool.

We are very sure that there will always be more things popping up. Still, we would like to share with you that the next step is to gear up the boat so that in the long term we serve as a self sustained vehicle serving for nature conservation based in Galapagos.

For that we are now getting the paperwork ready in order to get Pepe the galapaguenian residency! Such as tailoring several projects like:

Nautical education to members of the community,

Support different projects from community groups such as the surf, dive, sailing, biking clubs, among others,

We would like to arrange voluntary help for ocean patrolling of the marine reserve to help the National Park objectives,

Collaboration with research projects...

And many more to come!!!

As many of those projects are not commercial, we have decided to leave this page open, so we can still keep receiving donations.

Please don’t hesitate on contacting us if you have any ideas or doubts.

Thanks for your collaboration. It is a pleasure to be part of your life!!

Hola!

Subscription INREACH = $90
DMS = $560
PNG Inspection= $100
ABG Inspection= $100
Navy Inspection= $100
ABG Fumigation= $200
Departure Port Fees= $100
Spare parts (lights, Cables, filters, bulbs, zinc, etc.)= 200
Solar Battery= $288
Food for crossing and Anti-COVID quarantine= $400
COVID PCR Test= $200

AIS = $370
Genoa sail = $1800
Main Sail= $1800
Refrigeration system= $500

Apoyo a proyectos científicos,
