My name is Cameron, 18 years old, from Oban, Scotland. I am raising funds to take on the ultimate ocean challenge: as crew on the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
I’m doing this now because time is something I can’t take for granted.
My Story: Racing the Clock
I live with Retinitis Pigmentosa 38, a degenerative eye condition that gradually destroys my eyesight over time. There is no cure, no clear timeline, and no way of knowing how long my functional vision will last. Because of this, I will never be able to hold a driver's license—but the ocean has always given me the ultimate sense of freedom.
For the last 5 years, sailing has been my passion. On the water, vision is only part of the equation; seamanship, feel, and respect for the wind and sea take over. But I want to see the world's great oceans in high definition while I still can.
The Clipper Race is my dream. Sailing on a 70-foot ocean racer as part of a highly trained, competent crew will allow me to push my limits, navigate world oceans, and experience the beauty of our planet from the deck of a boat before my sight degrades.
Im doing this to prove to the world that your disability doesn't and shouldn't limit your dreams or opportunities and it certainly doesn't define you!

Where Your Support Goes
Ocean racing is a massive logistical challenge. Every pound/dollar raised will go directly toward:
Clipper Race Entry & Berth Fees (£59,995)

Mandatory Intensive Training Modules (Levels 1–4) &Offshore Safety Equipment & Specialist Gear (HPX foul weather gear, personal AIS beacons. (£7,995)

Other equipment, clothing, insurance, Visa's & accomodation at ports (£16,565)
Follow the Voyage
I won't be doing this alone—I want to bring all of you along for the ride. I will be sharing regular video logs, photo journals, and updates throughout my rigorous offshore training and every leg of the race.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, donating if you are able, or sharing this page with your network. Your support means the world to me.

This is my opportunity to fulfil my dreams in the safest way possible and show the world that a disability doesn't define you, and it certainly can't stop your dreams!

If I am not accepted into the Clipper Round the World Race, 100% of funds raised will be donated directly to Retina UK.
A bit about the Charity:
Retina UK is the primary UK national charity funding medical research and supporting individuals with inherited sight loss conditions like Retinitis Pigmentosa 38 (RP38). Because RP38 is a specific autosomal recessive form caused by mutations in the MERTK gene, Retina UK acts as a crucial hub by funding targeted gene research—including tracking global advancements like new MERTK-focused gene therapy clinical trials—while providing patient support networks, genetic counseling guidance, and advocacy to ensure individuals get accurate genetic diagnoses to qualify for future treatments.
