OUR STORY
We are an interdisciplinary team of young people from Latin America and Europe that seeks to strengthen the voice of climate activists providing youth affected by the climate crisis a platform to share their stories. We are taking our future in our own hands and try to self organize a sailing trip from Latin America to Europe to raise our voices in the places of power and to strengthen bonds across the Atlantic Ocean.
MISSION
The project aims to bring youth active in the efforts to combat climate change in and from the Latin America and Caribbean Region and Europe together and give them a platform to share their stories. A group of young climate activists from Latin American and Caribbean Region and Europe will participate in a sailing journey from Cartagena to Amsterdam. On board there will be a capacity building and knowledge-sharing programme. Upon arrival the participants will tour through Europe, share their stories on different platforms, build a movement for ambitious climate action and further build bridges between the two continents. At the end of the trip they will together attend a UN Climate Change Conference (formally called 52nd session of the subsidiary bodies to the UNFCCC or SB52; informally called “Intersessionals”) in Bonn, Germany.
VISION
We want to be part of a global climate movement where everyone feels represented and where all voices are equally valued. We believe that today´s dominance of the global north also in the climate movement monopolizes and homogenizes the messages and ideas our movement has and we want to change that. The youth climate movement must recognize oppressions and historical differences between the global north and south and must be able to give voice to all actors to be truly representative. Youth from Latin America and Caribbean Region want to be key actors in changing our reality. Only together we can face this global crisis.
