Hey everyone, my name is Rob Rice and I am Head Sailing Coach at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club. I grew up sailboat racing predominantly in a Naples Sabot, hull 9988, over 20 years ago. After finishing in the top 5 at Nationals a few times I decided I was ready to start high-performance sailing on c420s and 29ers. These years of advancing in faster fleets confirmed my obsession with speed and adrenaline. I decided to start Formula Kiting not only because they can perform up to 40-knot speeds but also because of the convenience of fitting my entire sailing craft in the back of a car. Now that Formula Kite is an Olympic class, my motivation is skyrocketing to reach the highest level of the sport.
