Sail to the Moon - Short Film
Donation protected
The lines between life and death blur after a grieving father hires a woman with the ability to imitate anyone in the hopes of seeing his deceased daughter one final time.
My name is Josh Grundy, a forth year Media Production student at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). My team and I are in search of funding for our thesis short film, Sail to the Moon.
What’s the film about?
Sail to the Moon tells the story of Frank MacKenzie, a grieving father who calls upon the help of a mysterious woman with a strange gift. This woman, Selene, has the ability to perfectly imitate anyone, a service bordering on the supernatural which she offers those in need of closure. Although Frank is skeptical about the process, he begrudgingly asks for Selene’s help in the hopes of talking to his daughter one last time who passed away almost a decade ago. On the day the two agree to meet, it would have been her thirtieth birthday.
Inspiration and Importance:
This film is an emotional, personal story that explores parent/child relationships and how far a father would go to say goodbye. Not only will it appeal to fans of both gothic and melodrama, we believe this will resonate to both young and old alike, those who linger on the things unsaid in their lives. What would you say to someone if you knew it was the last time you would see them?
Where is your money going?
We are aiming to raise $5,500! Every dollar you donate will go towards helping afford the numerous expenses throughout production. These include equipment, locations, art direction, props, costumes, catering, transportation, etc.
