Sail Warren Holybee Around the World
Donation protected
Sailing around the world isn't cheap, but not many dreams are. As of September, Warren has been sailing 15 months and is 1/2 way around the World.
My son Warren Holybee entered the Pacific Cup Race with his boat the "Eliana" from San Francisco to Hawaii in July 2018. From Hawaii he just kept going. He has explored islands and countries I've never heard of before now.
Things are going well, but boat repairs and the costs when he ports are high. He recently crossed the Indian Ocean from Indonesia to Mauritius and after leaving Madagascar he will go to South Africa, then cross the Atlantic Ocean. Before crossing he will need to make repairs to the Eliana and provision well. He will port in Brazil, and work if he can, for money to buy provisions to continue, but sailing through the Panama will be extremely expensive with fees from various agencies.
I am his Mom and and am trying to help him finish the Journey he began with such enthusiasm. It's his dream and must be lived. If you can help, he will remember this his whole life.
You can follow his travels on facebook on the page of "S/V Eliana" to read and see the days- good and difficult.
A short Blog from Warren:
Why?
Who am I and why am I doing this?
I consider myself just a normal guy, who has been spending my life working a 9-to-5 job. Commuting to work everyday, I was burnt out and ready for change. Each day I drove over the Golden Gate bridge and looked at all the sailboats. I thought to myself, "that is a much better place to be than here."
So, in March of 2014 I took my first sailing class at Modern Sailing in Sausalito. I have been hooked every since. Very quickly, I decided I wanted to go on a long cruise, maybe circumnavigate. And that is where this story begins. In October of 2015 I become the owner of Eliana II.
