Sai Manohar Sadineni medical expenses
Spende geschützt
Sai Manohar Sadineni was just 25 years old when his life was turned upside down by acute meningoencephalitis. He was a bright and ambitious young man with dreams of getting a good job and taking care of his parents. But his illness robbed him of all that.
Acute meningoencephalitis is a serious and life-threatening infection of the brain and spinal cord. It can cause a variety of symptoms, including headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, seizures, and coma.
When Sai started having the symptoms, he thought it was just the flu. But his condition quickly worsened. Within a week, he was having worsening neurological symptoms. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was put on life support because he was comatose and paralyzed.
Sai spent the next month in a coma. After approximately a month, Sai woke up from his coma. But he was a different person. He was paralyzed from the neck down and is still requiring a tracheostomy and PEG tube to breathe and eat. He has been in Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis for almost 120 days.
His parents, who had never been out of India before, traveled to Memphis to be with him. They were devastated by their son's illness, but they never gave up hope.
Sai's parents are working-class people who saved up for years to send him to college. They are now struggling to make ends meet while they are in the US to care for him. On top of this, the parents are now facing the daunting task of taking him back to India for continued rehabilitation.
He will now need to relearn how to do everything, from talking to walking. The doctors taking care of him, say that in a hopeful situation, Sai will need at least 1 to 2 years for rehabilitation and recovery.
Sai Manohar is so young and has his whole life ahead of him. It is heartbreaking to see him so sick and in need of so much help.
The cost of Sai's care in India will be astronomical. He will need to see multiple specialists, stay in a specialized hospital, and receive extensive rehabilitation. His parents simply cannot afford to pay for this on their own. They need our help to pay for his medical expenses. All proceedings will go to Uma Mahesh Sadineni, Sai's younger brother and his parents to help with recovery.
Please donate to Sai's fundraiser today.
Every dollar will help his family get through this difficult time and give Sai the best chance at a full recovery.
