3D Printer for SAHS Robotics Club

My name is Dennis Robertson, and I'm a Physics teacher at Souderton Area High School and the advisor for the school's SeaPerch Robotics and Engineering Clubs. Both clubs have a ton of potential: the Robotics Club is a perennial contender in the SeaPerch competition and was a National Champion in 2015; and the Engineering Club is a brand new way for me to bring my real-world engineering experience to my students.
Being a teacher has been the most rewarding professional experience of my life, but before that, I was a mechanical engineer for 29 years. My experience desigining and even patenting complex devices has translated to the classroom, and I now collaborate in this with my students. We need a 3D printer in order to take us to the next level. A printer dedicated to our work in the Robotics and Engineering Clubs would allow my students the opportunity to elevate their creativity and design skills, and it would allow me the chance to really teach out of the box lessons to some of my most dedicated pupils.
The printer -- an Ultimaker 3 -- itself costs about $3,500, and filiment -- the "paper" for the printer -- would run another $1000-1500 over the remainder of the school year. In the off-chance we go over $5000, I will use the extra to go towards additional equipment for the clubs, specifically a PC powerful enough to be dedicated to the printer's use.
I'm using GoFundMe to get out the word because I feel like we as a community can best fundraise for these kids through this platform. It would mean so much to both myself and them if you'd be able to help in any way. Thank you!
