Sagwa's Medical Crisis: Your Help Needed
Donation protected
Nightmare week in rescue. We need your help sharing an emergency vet fundraiser for this poor mama cat that gave birth in the trap unexpectedly and had major complications. She's at Feather & Fur Vet on the other side of the island in critical condition, being sponsored by Aloha Kitty TNR, who is going above and beyond for this poor sweetheart kitty!!! We need to raise funds to give her the medical attention she absolutely needs and deserves.
Why the vet on the other side of the island? EVERY SINGLE EMERGENCY VET REFUSED US that night as they were all full!!! We went to Waipahu Waikele, VCA, and even VERC. This has been unbelievably stressful. Thankful for the wonderful rescue friends who jumped in, whether answering texts, calls, or literally helping get this cat & babies rushed to the vet.
Only hours after the vet clinic released her and 2 of her surviving babies, we had to rush her immediately back as she was going into some kind of seizure and had scary breathing. Her second kitten didn't make the car ride, and the 3rd baby was left at the vet while mama Sagwa gets critical care. Hours later, she needed a blood transfusion. Poor Sagwa has been through so much. She is not doing well, but if there's a chance, we feel she deserves us to do our best for her. This will be a longer stay at the clinic, unfortunately, meaning a hefty medical bill to fundraise to try and save her precious life.
As always, we are reminding everyone how urgent it is to spay and neuter not only your pets but the ones in your yard, neighborhood, workplace, etc. This has to be a community effort. Not only does this help prevent major suffering like pyometra & horrible births, but overpopulation issues resulting in animal cruelty, neglect, and abandonment.
Hawaii needs your help
A few words from her loving caretakers.
"We first met Sagwa, a tiny Siamese cat, in our backyard — a little soul who seemed to find us just when we needed her most. We named her Sagwa, after the TV show 'Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat,' because something about her spirit felt just as special.
She was so small, so sweet, always searching for a warm lap or an empty chair to claim as her own. The moment someone sat down, Sagwa would appear, asking quietly for cuddles with the softest nudge of her head.
Despite her gentle heart, there was a fierce protectiveness in her too. She watched over the younger, smaller cats like a guardian, making sure they were never alone, never scared. In her own little way, Sagwa became the heart of our backyard — a reminder that sometimes the smallest beings carry the greatest love."
