Hello everyone, I'm Kent Donguines, and I’m a Filipino-Canadian filmmaker based in Vancouver, BC. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and I’ve seen firsthand how many typhoons hit our country every year. Growing up, I witnessed how Filipinos always find ways to rise above every disaster with courage and hope. But what’s heartbreaking is seeing how the government often fails its people—turning flood-control projects into money-making schemes instead of real solutions.
This time, we’re saying enough is enough. We’re not waiting for the government to act. They’ve proven to be unreliable, and our kababayans can’t afford to wait any longer. That’s why I’m putting together this campaign—to make sure help reaches those who truly need it, with honesty and transparency every step of the way.
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
Sagip Kababayan: From Canada to the Philippines is a community-driven fundraising and donation campaign organized by PhilCAS of BC and the Filipino-Canadian Filmmaker Group in Vancouver.
Our goal is simple: to extend help and hope to our fellow Filipinos who were badly affected by Typhoon Uwan in the Philippines.

Entire villages lay submerged and scores of towns remained without electricity on November 10 as Uwan left the Philippines after killing at least two people and displacing more than a million.
