Sage ~ Emergency Surgery Fund

At 4 days of age she stood out in the herd as the smallest, most delicate and yet the most determined to eat like the rest of the foals.   She made an instant impact and was a true survivor.  Rescued from a devastating fate and ensured she never reached the feedlot destination this young orphan's way was of a warrior.   Her first impressions of this world rough and let down by man-kind and yet this untouched foal embraced all chances.  With great hope the tribe came together for a foster mare to be found and despite all efforts the mare rejected this innocent being; ruled by her own feelings her aggression towards the foal rose.  We named her Ruby Sage as the strong, wise healer she is.  After two false starts in life we knew she belonged with us to rejoin a small herd with her "brother" and be reunited with our family.  The greatest gift we could give her was to grow up to be the horse she was destined to be.  Her connection to all life and my young son, Joseph grew.  He calls her his horse.  She chose the ROTH herd to become an ambassador to inspire the next generation of gentle horsemanship.

After a fluke accident she finds herself in urgent care with a lacerated leg and a tendon injury.   Despite the diagnosis we have to believe she will heal to live the life she envisions.  She is brave, she is strong, she is a warrior.  Alone at the veterinary hospital due to the pandemic access is denied we hold her in our healing hands sending  prayers and thoughts as she ventures this journey alone with our virtual support.

We have been part of rescues for over 30 years, and supported thousands always been on the side of fund-raising for those in need ~ for my mile-stone birthday this year I don't ask for any presents I ask for the gift of my girl to come home ~ whole.  For her to return to her family where she can begin the healing process while feeling the love of her herd.

Thank you for your love, care and support.  May we celebrate and give gratitude for access to our veterinary care, for western medicine, for alternative therapies to come, for this community and for the healing that has already happened.  The current costs surmount to $15,000 with ongoing recuperation thereafter.
