Saffron Cowboy was started as a front-yard coffee shop by Hannah Said. She wanted to give the DIY shop a name that blended her biracial identity – half Arab (Saffron) and half white (Cowboy). She wanted to bring together her neighbors, family, friends, and dog park world for a cute community hang. She intentionally invited different kinds of people because she wanted Saffron Cowboy to be really diverse; She wanted to see babies, queers, dogs, older adults, hijabis, black and brown, and neurodivergent people all connecting.
Saffron Cowboy branched into community events, with monthly pop-ups in collaboration with other vendors (barbers, tattoo artists and bakers), dance parties, movie nights, intimate dinners, and block parties. We are now opening up a shop within Foundr Coworking Space in Pasadena - 87 North Raymond Avenue, Pasadena CA 91103.
Saffron Cowboy is very queer and very P.O.C. - you feel it when you buy a coffee, come to an event, or buy a zine/ journal. Humor, warm coffee, laughter, hugs, music, art, and dancing will heal us. There is nothing more radical than being a queer person of color, creating and basking in joy.
We are raising money to run online marketing ads and marketing collateral so we can get more people in the door! We want this to be a space where marginalized people feel safe to be themselves and be in community.
Thank you for supporting and being a part of the Saffron Cowboy Family!
