Safety Over Fear: A Gift of Peace. Undocumented worker
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Erica Kovitz.
I’m the daughter of Mexican immigrants, and I understand — deeply — the fear and uncertainty that so many undocumented individuals live with. While I’ve been blessed with opportunities because of the sacrifices my parents made, I haven’t forgotten where I come from. That’s why I want to help her.
The woman I’m raising money for comes once a week to clean for one of my businesses. She’s undocumented, has lived in this country for many years, and has children who were born here. She’s hardworking, joyful, and never complains — the kind of person who shows up with a smile and gives everything she has.
But today, she messaged me saying she’s too afraid to leave her home because of the ICE activity happening in Los Angeles. She needs the money, but she’s scared — and rightfully so.
Of course, I’m paying her for the week regardless. But I want to do something more — something kind. If you feel called to give anything, even $1 or $5, I’ve set up this GoFundMe so she can stay home and feel just a little more peace and support.
Because of the sensitive nature of her situation, I won’t be posting a photo of her — just the message she sent me today, which says it all.
Thank you for reading, and for helping me lift her up in this difficult moment.
With gratitude,
Erica
