Safety for Amaris and Andy

Our friends Amaris and Andy suffered a horrible act of violence on Friday, December 13, 2019: the brutal intentional killing of their beloved cat, Yuki. Since that day, the authorities are investigating and a restraining order has been temporarily put in place to protect Amaris and Andy.


But we need to do much more. Amaris and Andy face the tremendous stress and expense of things that include, but definitely are not limited to: 


- installing security devices at their home;
- investigating potential modifications to the property;
- obtaining high-impact legal representation for them as they consider every possible avenue for bringing justice to Yuki and ensuring safety for themselves;
- as circumstances permit, raising awareness generally of violence against the animals and people we love in our community, so that what happened to Yuki, Amaris, and Andy can be prevented from happening to someone else. 


All of this has been and will be expensive. We are asking you to spread the word to help raise the funds Amaris and Andy will need -- and that will help make a little more gentle the life of our community and our world. We don't often get a chance to make such a contribution. Ours is right here. 


Any unused funds will be donated to Animal Humane New Mexico.
