Our son Ellis has severe autism and needs constant care and supervision, he has no speech and needs all his personal needs met. With his autism comes alot of challenging behaviours including head banging lashing out and a lot of self harming.
over the last year maybe due to him becoming a teenager his behaviour has become alot more challenging and at times quite extreme.
We as a family have had to look into respite for Ellis  as things are not getting any easier and decided to have some shortbreaks from the local authories. At the moment Ellis has been having daycare leading up to overnight stays, this is were we are struggling.
To have Ellis stay over night we need something called a Travel safespace which ellis would sleep in and would help protect ellis when head banging and make him feel more secure but the cost of this is £3000 which we dont have at the moment.
Ellis has been given a place at the end of january which would meet his needs but places are hard to get and if we dont get the safespace in time his place might be given to another child. many thanks for your support and thanks for reading x
