Sister Diagnosed with Terminal Cancer Needs Help

Many of you may know my sister, Linda (Rusk) Lovell, who operates “The Shop,” a small resale shop on Highway 80 in Wills Point next to McBee Water Office. She learned on April 29 that she had a cancerous tumor on her left lung. Then, a few weeks later, her doctor told her that cancer had spread to her liver and bones and she possibly would live just another six months.

Linda changed to a new doctor last week who will be using combination chemotherapy consisting of a relatively new immunotherapy drug (Atezolizumab) with two additional drugs. Her doctor recently decided to suspend radiation treatments altogether since the cancer has spread, and she’s now in Stage 4.

We’re all praying Linda’s body will have minimum side effects with these new drugs. Being sick and weak from chemo and suffering spinal pain from cancer, she can no longer work at her business.

Linda needs help in the form of prayers, moral support, and with her finances.

Linda is very grateful to everyone who responded to an earlier Facebook posting asking for donations to help her pay for ongoing living and medical costs as well as commuting expenses to Rockwall for treatments. Those gifts were a real blessing. I am additionally trying to find a way to raise money for Linda as she now works to make her final arrangements.
